Remain under threshold

Progress occurs under threshold. If your pet is too stimulated, no progress can occur. Always keep an eye out for signs of over threshold. When in doubt, start slow and at a low volume.

Short sessions, real breaks

Studies of how dogs learn found that short sessions with real breaks between them work better than long or back-to-back sessions. Keep each session brief, end while your pet is still relaxed, and practice whenever it fits your schedule.
